Headshot of Corey Allard and Xin Gu

Corey Allard and Xin Gu have received research grants through NIH’s High-Risk, High-Reward Research program.

The NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, established in 2007, supports unusually innovative research from early career investigators who are within 10 years of their final degree or clinical residency and have not yet received an NIH R01 or equivalent grant.

The High-Risk, High-Reward Research program supports researchers at different career stages who propose highly innovative research that may be difficult to pursue with traditional NIH funding mechanisms. The program encourages investigators to think beyond established scientific boundaries and to pursue revolutionary ideas across the NIH mission to advance knowledge and enhance health.
