Congratulations to faculty member Brendan Manning, who was recently appointed Barry R. And Irene T. Bloom Professor of Public Health, made possible through a significant philanthropic gift. An endowed professorship is the highest honor HMS can bestow on a faculty member. Endowed professorships recognize extraordinary clinicians, researchers, and educators who serve on the Quad or as faculty at one of HMS' affiliated institutions.
The endowed Barry R. and Irene T. Bloom Professorship was established by a group of donors in honor of former dean Barry R. Bloom, who served the School from 1999-2008.
Tom joins a lengthy list of other Cell Bio faculty members with endowed chairs/professorships: Brad Bernstein, Joan Brugge, Wade Harper, Randy King, Tommy Kirchhausen, David Pellman, Tom Rapoport, and Bruce Spiegelman.
