Bernstein lab postdoc James Morrow is a member of the inaugural class of Damon Runyon – St. Jude Pediatric Cancer Research Fellows. The initiative aims to provide support for early-career scientists to study pediatric cancer, addressing a funding gap that drives top talent to seek more prevalent opportunities in adult cancer research or the pharmaceutical sector. Each fellow will receive funding to support an innovative project in basic or translational research with the potential to significantly impact the diagnosis or treatment of one or more pediatric cancers. His project is on the "Application of single-cell approaches to investigate the developmental origin and early transformation steps of osteosarcoma.”

Liberles lab postdoc Rachel Greenberg is a 2024 recipient of the Damon Runyon-Dale F Frey Award for Breakthrough Scientists for her work on “The function of interoceptive circuits in reproduction and cancer.”   This award recognizes Damon Runyon Fellows who have exceeded the Foundation’s highest expectations and are most likely to make paradigm-shifting breakthroughs that transform the way we prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer.

To accelerate breakthroughs, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation provides today’s best young scientists with funding to pursue innovative cancer research. The Foundation supports emerging leaders who have great potential to achieve breakthroughs in how we diagnose, treat and prevent cancer.
