Harper Lab graduate student develops app and R package for easily extracting protein-specific UniProtKB information

Alexandra Panov

We are excited to share with you UniProtExtractR, a cool Shiny app and R package developed by Harper Lab grad student Alex Panov. This tool is intended to increase the accessibility of the UniProtKB database of annotated protein features.  It's both an app and R package that helps overcome some limitations of UniProtKB that are a natural consequence of its highly consistent but rigid syntax.

UniProtExtractR source code and user manual, including example files and troubleshooting, is available at https://github.com/alex-bio/UniProtExtractR

The Shiny app is hosted at https://harperlab.connect.hms.harvard.edu/uniprotextractR.
