Cell Bio faculty member appointed to an endowed professorship

Congratulations to faculty member Tom Rapoport, who was recently named the Don W. Fawcett Professor of Cell Biology! An endowed professorship is the highest honor HMS can bestow on a faculty member. Endowed professorships recognize extraordinary clinicians, researchers, and educators who serve on the Quad or as faculty at one of HMS' affiliated institutions.

The late Don Fawcett was one of the main founders of the field of cell biology and was the chair of HMS' Department of Anatomy (which was the precursor to our current Cell Bio department). Don Fawcett also founded the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and was its first president. We are delighted that Tom received this honor in recognition of his own outstanding contributions to the field of cell biology.

Tom joins a lengthy list of other Cell Bio faculty members with endowed chairs/professorships: Brad Bernstein, Joan Brugge, Wade Harper, Randy King, Tommy Kirchhausen, David Pellman, and Bruce Spiegelman.
