Maria Ericsson, B.S.
Maria Ericsson joined the Cell Biology Department in 1995 to set up the newly created Electron Microscopy Facility. Maria received her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Uppsala, Sweden and specialized in electron microscopy at the EMBL in Heidelberg, Germany.
The aim of the HMS Electron Microscopy Core is to provide the research community with easy access to equipment, technology, and expertise in ultra-structural studies. The Core provides routine sample preparation for electron microscopy (TEM and SEM), as well as high pressure freezing, freeze substitution, immunogold labeling, and negative staining. EM Facility staff work closely with researchers to design experiments, troubleshoot protocols, and assist with imaging and training. To start a new EM project, check out equipment availability, or to make an appointment for a training session, go to the website or email Maria.
